The Directors

Greg, our director. Greg Finger is the camp Director. He has been a camping professional for over thirty years, plays a mean guitar and piano, is a pretty good tennis player, and makes a delicious omelette. In the off seasons, besides all the work he does for camp, Greg is a volunteer fire fighter (past chief), EMT, and is involved in many civic organiztions.

Edythe plays with a youngin'.Edythe McDannel, Assistant Director, started working for TIV in 1982. Edythe is a sure first pick if you're making a softball team; rumor has it she is a good skier too. She is a full time mother of two and a full time school teacher (we're still not sure how she does it all, and so well too!)

Nate isn't known to be camera shy.Nate Hakken, one of camp's Program Directors has been at TIV for the last 16 years in every possible position from camper to Program Director. He is a high-adventure enthusiast always looking for a challenge.

The Staff

Our Staff from 2003
Of course the staffing profile changes a bit every summer but one thing is for certain, we strive to hire mature fun-loving adults who care about young people's wealfare and have a strong desire to share their skills, talents, and interests in a safe and fun environment.

Some of our staff in the field.
Each summer we have enjoyed a return rate of staff from 50 to over 70 percent! The average age of our staff has been in the low to mid twenties, an even mix of males and females, and coming from all over the WORLD!!!

Staffers running.
Each staffer specializes in at least one of the program or support areas of camp and is strongly encouraged to learn new skills. All program staff also have bunk/cabin life responsibiliites and, therefore, get to develop better relationships with the campers.

Oops, a spill
With over 60 staff, campers are assured individual instruction, caring supervision, and appropriate attention. In staff training we repeatedly cover the "why's" and "how's" of our work ethic: "The kids come first."
